ABOUT JIM CUNNINGHAM COACHING Jim Cunningham Coaching started in 2002 when I realized what enjoyment I got out of helping friends and family with their training. I studied training plan design, periodization, diet, and so on rather extensively on my own and in college and used this knowledge to train myself (I was racing regularly and still do). When others started asking questions I was glad to help. After all, many of these folks were much more accomplished at cycling than I. I thought, ‘Wow, they’re asking ME for help!?!?!’ I always gave it my best shot and was even happier that good results often followed. I moved ahead and earned my USA Cycling Club Level Coaching License and continued to work with cycling athletes. Since then, much has changed, almost all positive, with Jim Cunningham Coaching. I did some grass-roots promoting like flyers and word-of-mouth and built up a small base of clients. Living in Ohio at the time, it was difficult to really get things rolling as the critical mass needed for this work proved hard-to-find there. Realizing that I wanted to train more and race more and build Jim Cunningham Coaching, I moved to the warmer climate of Greenville, SC in 2005. And did things change! Since then, I’ve earned my USA Cycling Level II coaching license, been through fitting school with Michael Sylvester (The Bike Gallery, Portland, OR), been to both Andrew Coggan and Hunter Allen’s Power (wattage) Training Clinics and have fitted over 225 people on road, TT (Tri), and mountain bikes. Furthermore, business has improved so much that I have rented space and have a coaching office. No more using the bonus room of my house! 2009 is already filling up and I’m looking forward to a great season with some awesome athletes as well as welcoming an additional coach at Jim Cunningham Coaching! Sean Weddell joins the Jim Cunningham Coaching team - read Sean's Biography. Additional coaches and services like a Computrainer Multi-Rider Center coming soon also! Have a great season!
